George Washington was the first President of United States of America, and he took office in 1789, and at that time the salary was fixed at $25,000 a year. You heard it correct, the salary was fixed. There are two important things that ought to be seen here, foremost the humility and next, the least importance that money occupied in the lives of great men of yesterday years. This does not mean that the world today has run out of great people, for even today, there are great people who don’t value Money above the lives of the People they serve, and in fact take every opportunity to use their resources in doing good for the people.
